According to the latest news from the supply chain, NVIDIA will kick off the RTX 5090 and 5080 pre-program this month, and AIC partners will begin to receive pertinent information shortly.

According to sources, NVIDIA will officially unveil the RTX 5090, 5080, and other major graphics cards at CES next January.

Cooling module manufacturers have indicated that the development of a 600W cooling solution for NVIDIA's graphics cards is progressing, while a 400W power consumption plan is currently either canceled or on hold. In total, five NVIDIA graphics card cooling solutions are currently under development.

This information seems to confirm earlier reports that the RTX 5090 will consume 600W and the RTX 5080 will consume 400W, with both models equipped with a 16-pin power connector.

Due to the increased performance, a rise in power consumption is inevitable. For reference, the previous generation RTX 4090 consumed 450W, while the upcoming RTX 5090 will see a 33% increase in power consumption.

The RTX 4080 has a power consumption of 320W, whereas the RTX 5080 will rise by 80W to 400W, reflecting a 25% increase.

It is reported that this substantial rise in power consumption corresponds to an increase in performance. The RTX 5080 is expected to reach 1.1 times the performance of the RTX 4090, suggesting that the RTX 5090 will be even more formidable.
