AMD recently announced the pricing of its latest generation of Ryzen 9000 series desktop CPUs on online retailers such as BestBuy. The prices are very attractive compared to the previous generation of Ryzen 7000 Zen 4 CPUs.

The flagship Ryzen 9 9950X sells for $599, which is $100 cheaper than the suggested retail price of $699 for the Ryzen 7 7950X. The Ryzen 9 9900X is priced at $449, which is $100 lower than the $549 for the 7900X. The Ryzen 7 9700X sells for $359, which is $40 cheaper than the $399 for the 7700X, while the Ryzen 5 9600X is $279, $20 cheaper than the $299 for the 7600X.

The specific launch dates for these new CPU models are: Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X will go on sale on August 8, while the high-end Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 9 9900X will go on sale on August 15.

The Ryzen 9 9950X is a 16-core CPU with exceptional multithreaded task processing capabilities and excellent gaming performance. Its pricing is more cost-effective than Intel's Core i9-14900K and Core i9-14900KS, both of which sell for more than $500 and have high power consumption and instability.

The Ryzen 9 9900X, sold for $449, will put significant competitive pressure on Intel's Core i7-14700K. In contrast, the Ryzen 9 9900X benefits from the optimization of the Zen 5 core architecture, resulting in lower power consumption and enhanced thermal performance.

The Ryzen 7 9700X costs $359, is slightly faster than the current best gaming chip, Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and consumes only 65W, making it very cost-effective.

The Ryzen 5 9600X, priced at $279, is a 6-core chip targeting the mainstream market of the AM5 platform and offers a better performance-to-price ratio than the previous generation.

New Products on AM4 Platform

In addition to the Ryzen 9000 series, AMD has introduced new AM4 CPUs based on the Zen 3 architecture, including the Ryzen 9 5900XT and Ryzen 7 5800XT. The Ryzen 9 5900XT costs $349 and is equipped with 16 cores, 32 threads, a 72 MB cache, and a clock speed of up to 4.8 GHz, with a TDP of 105W. The Ryzen 7 5800XT costs $249 and features 8 cores, 16 threads, a 36 MB cache, and a 4.8GHz clock speed, with a TDP of 105W.

These two new CPUs also come standard with the original Wraith Prism cooler. Through these new products, AMD aims to continue supporting the AM4 platform to meet the needs of users with older AM4 motherboards.

Overall, AMD has attracted a large number of new PC builders to its AM5 platform through competitive pricing strategies and performance optimization. At the same time, given the challenges Intel currently faces, AMD is expected to capture a larger share of the desktop market. With the launch of the new generation Ryzen 9000 series and AM4 platform, AMD is set to maintain its leading position in the high-performance CPU market.
