Intel and AMD are gearing up for a new generation of high-end gaming laptop platforms. AMD's upcoming platform, codenamed 'Fire Range,' stems from the desktop Ryzen 9000 series, similar to the existing Ryzen 7000HX lineup.!
A new AMD processor, identified by the number 100-000001028-42_Y, has made its appearance in the GeekBench AI test suite. This processor seems to be part of the Fire Range.
Identified by the system as having 16 cores and 32 threads with a benchmark frequency of 2.5GHz, it appears to be the flagship model succeeding the Ryzen 9 7945HX, which also boasts 16 cores and 32 threads alongside a 2.5GHz benchmark frequency, but is based on the Zen4 architecture.
It is anticipated that the Fire Range will bear the Ryzen 9000HX series name. The leading model is expected to be called either the Ryzen 9 9955HX or potentially the Ryzen 9 9945HX.
The official announcement of the Fire Range series is slated for CES 2025. Correspondingly, the related laptops will understandably require some waiting time, and it's likely they will be limited in number.
