AMD Plans to Launch Ryzen 5 9600X3D, Continuing Its Mid-Range X3D Lineup

Not too long ago, there were rumors that AMD might launch the Ryzen 7 9800X3D by the end of October, but no later than November 11. The remaining two models, the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D, might be delayed until next year due to new features, possibly launching at CES 2025 in early January.

Recently, according to sources from BenchLife, AMD has plans to add the Ryzen 5 9600X3D to the Ryzen 9000X3D series lineup. This move aims to maintain the same structure as the Ryzen 7000X3D lineup, better covering the mid-range and high-end CPU market, thereby strengthening AMD's competitive position. The currently known model numbers and cache specifications for the Ryzen 9000X3D series are as follows:

  • Ryzen 9 9950X3D: 32MB per CCD (64MB L3) + 64MB 3D V-Cache (128MB) + 16MB L2 + 1MB L1 = 145MB
  • Ryzen 9 9900X3D: 32MB per CCD (64MB L3) + 64MB 3D V-Cache (128MB) + 12MB L2 + 768KB L1 = 140.8MB
  • Ryzen 7 9800X3D: 32MB per CCD (32MB L3) + 64MB 3D V-Cache (96MB) + 8MB L2 + 512KB L1 = 104.5MB
  • Ryzen 5 9600X3D: 32MB per CCD (32MB L3) + 64MB 3D V-Cache (96MB) + 6MB L2 + 480KB L1 = 102.5MB

Although the Ryzen 5 7600X3D was launched well after the other Ryzen 7000X3D series processors, it's uncertain when the Ryzen 5 9600X3D will be released. However, based on the relatively good market feedback for the Ryzen 5 7600X3D, an earlier release cannot be ruled out.

It is understood that the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D went on sale in the U.S. at the end of August this year, and mid-September for other markets. Built on the Zen 4 architecture core, it features 6 cores and 12 threads and employs 3D Vertical Cache (3D V-Cache) technology. The base frequency is 4.1 GHz, with an accelerated frequency of 4.7 GHz, both of which are 600 MHz lower compared to the Ryzen 5 7600X. The L3 cache capacity reaches 96 MB, which is 64 MB more than the regular Ryzen 5 7600X, and it has a TDP of 65 W. It is expected that the specifications for the Ryzen 5 9600X3D will be similar to those of the Ryzen 5 9600X. Most importantly, Ryzen 9000 series processors are compatible with AM5 motherboards featuring the A620, B650, B650E, X670, X670E, and the new 800-series chipsets.
