The Most Popular Graphics Card on Steam: Reports Indicate NVIDIA RTX 3060 to be Discontinued Soon

According to reports, Nvidia is about to stop producing the popular GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card. As inventory gradually runs out, Nvidia will turn its focus to the RTX 4060 series products.

As one of Nvidia's best-selling graphics cards and a star product in the Ampere architecture, the RTX 3060 is on the brink of discontinuation. Board Channels reports that Nvidia has notified partners of its intent to halt RTX 3060 production. Currently, only the last batch of GPUs remains available for order, meaning manufacturers looking to purchase this cost-effective card must do so promptly.

Although the report didn't specify whether the 8GB or 12GB version of the RTX 3060 will be discontinued, it can be anticipated that both versions, which use the GA106 GPU core, will face the same fate. Nvidia has advised multiple graphics card manufacturers to allocate the final batch of GPUs, with additional manufacturers set to receive their last shipments in the upcoming months.

However, this doesn't imply that the RTX 3060 will vanish from the market immediately; rather, its presence will gradually decline over the coming months. Major retailers still have substantial inventories of the RTX 3060, ensuring that it will remain available for some time even after manufacturers stock the final batch.

The RTX 3060 is not only a top seller for many retailers, but it's also the most popular graphics card in the July hardware survey on the Steam platform. Its popularity rose by 0.22% from the previous month, now accounting for 5.71% of users. While the Steam hardware survey data may not be entirely accurate, trends over the past few months show the RTX 3060 consistently holding the top spot, closely followed by other entry-level graphics cards like the GTX 1650 and RTX 3060 Ti.
