It's no surprise that the RTX 50 series is set to debut with GDDR7 memory, leaving many wondering which solution NVIDIA will choose from the three major OEMs: Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron.
According to Korean media reports, the RTX 50 series will use GDDR7 memory from all three major manufacturers concurrently. However, for desktops, the series will exclusively feature Samsung's GDDR7.
When it comes to laptop models, all three GDDR7 memory providers will be utilized, with Samsung remaining the primary supplier.
Current insights suggest that the RTX 50 series will maximize memory speeds at 28Gbps for GDDR7, though some reports speculate speeds could reach up to 32Gbps.
Interestingly, Samsung recently announced their development of new 24Gb (3GB) GDDR7 memory capable of reaching up to 40Gbps, with potential enhancements to 42.5Gbps.
Nevertheless, it's clear that these advancements will not be incorporated into the RTX 50 series at this stage.
